The card has 2x points on travel and dining, 25% more of travel redemption when booking through their website, no foreign transaction fees, annual fee waived the first year, and other trip and baggage protections. This card is a lighter on the annual fee at $75 than the Reserve card. If I couldn't have the Reserve card, I would have this one instead.

Capital One 360 Debit Account

♦️ Capital One 360 Debit Account is my backup card in case of emergencies. I had both their credit and debit card and experienced solid service every time. With the debit services, I really enjoy not having to maintain a minimum balance and ability to deposit cash at a branch right across the street from my house. Their online systems are fantastic and you can even deposit a check via mobile. They are striving to have less of a physical location presence and it's apparent.

♦️ AirBnB was my go-to for quick accomodations and booked them too many times to count. I've used it in the states and abroad in Europe and Colombia. A lot of people use it around the world and I found some pretty great homes when I was traveling in Santa Marta, Colombia. I'm even using it for my next trip in Mexico and found a great top floor apartment! Excited to live there.

♦️ Uber is a great option for a quick ride. Most of the time I took public transportation or use local taxi apps (IE EasyTaxi in Colombia). Uber is the way to go if you don't yet have the local currency and want to pay with your credit card or you're just not sure about safety. To further increase safety, try out their new feature about notifying a friend for a trip. Invite code: "timothyh4504ue".

💿 Software Tools

If you're new to web development, make a new site with Namecheap + Bluehost + Divi Theme.

Namecheap Domain Registration

♦️ Namecheap allows you to buy custom domain names which I prefer over GoDaddy. There seems to be less promotional hype and it’s much easier to use. There’s a dashboard to keep of all the domain names you purchase and reminds you when domains start expiring.

Bluehost Web Hosting

♦️ Bluehost is a popular company for good reason. It’s affordable, easy to use, and has excellent support. I’ve already hosted six websites with them and they have not let me down yet. Consider a Plus plan if you plan on hosting many websites. Use my affiliate link if you decide to get it!

Divi Themes by Elegant Themes

♦️ Divi Theme by Elegant Themes makes building websites easy with drag-and-drop blocks that requires zero coding knowledge. With complete access to all themes, extensive tutorials, and unlimited usage; it’s a phenomenal value for the price. Please use my affiliate link if you decide to get it!

Google Drive 100GB

♦️ Google Drive 100GB has a deal for $2/month, which gets you 100GB so you can store all your important files on a cloud. This is a boon for digital nomads who don’t want to carry around an external hard drive. I keep my important documents, music, ebooks, and audiobooks on there. You can even download the desktop app to make your work flow even more fluid.

Cloud Player

♦️ Cloud Player is a audio cloud player that is paired perfectly with Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive. No longer do you have to import your songs to your phone via a cable, just use this service over Wi-Fi instead. Use this to sync all your mp3's, audiobooks, and audio medias. Expect it to take at least an hour and more if you have a larger music collection. The basic version is a 30-day trial of the premium version with full features. The premium version is a one time purchase for $7.99 on Google Play store.

♦️ LastPass is a password management software that can keep track of all your passwords and features a secure note section too. There's a website app, chrome app, as well as a mobile app for your phone.

📚 Web Development Resources

I recommend free courses before buying paid courses.

Free Code Camp

♦️ Free Code Camp is great place to learn to code with free challenges and friendly community. It’s considered a real school which you can list on LinkedIn and helps you get in contact with non-profits after you finish your certifications. However, many people get jobs way before they finish their certifications.

♦️ Codecademy is a similar learning environment to Free Code Camp. Plenty of exercises and courses for you to sign up. It’s free and really fun to learn. Instruction is great to follow along but it does not have a large community to interact with. You can read, learn, and practice right on their platform. This is a great place to do just that!

The Web Developer Bootcamp

♦️ The Web Developer Bootcamp is my personal favorite course on Udemy with focus on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node, Express, MongoDB, and more. It’s taught by Colt Steele who has taught numerous bootcamps in the past. I most enjoyed the style and pace of the course. Coding can be daunting for a beginner but the instructor who has teaching experience can help you feel like you’re making improvements every day. The technologies are starting with the very basics and takes you to the end. Some of the syntax and libraries might be older but learning foundation syntax is not a bad thing!

Javascript 30

♦️ Javascript 30 is a free course to teach you vanilla javascript tricks. Wes Bos collected a ton of mini-projects and shows you how to create them without any library or framework. There are even some exercises to work on array methods, working with developer tools, and other cool things. The most interesting projects for me were Flexbox Panel, HTML Video Player, CSS and JS Clock.

ES6 For Everyone

♦️ ES6 For Everyone is an awesome resource if you’re a JavaScript ninja. Get your chops down and learn all the updates that were released in 2015. Wes Bos is a great teacher and his videos are informative but do not leave you snoring. Wes covers template strings, promises, symbols, generators, proxies, and a ton more! Do yourself a favor if you are doing JS and pick this up. Absolutely love this course and recommending to everyone I know!

React For Beginners

♦️ React For Beginners is an awesome course to start learning React with the latest technologies, Google's Firebase, and other services as well. It's how I learned React myself and I highly recommend this instructor too. Wes is ball of fun rolled in with high-lelve expertise which makes picking up React a great experience for newbies.
